چکیده
This paper examines analytically the design criteria for composite retrofit of reinforced concrete (RC) columns with a short lap splice length steel rebars inside critical region. The advanced potential pseudo-dynamic three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) modelling is utilized to investigate parameters required carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) jacketing RC rectangular cross-section based on experimental lateral force-to-drift envelope behavior characteristic cases from international literature. satisfactory analytical reproduction results allows systematic numerical investigation developed stress along length. maximum force and horizontal displacement ductility column, as well tensile axial longitudinal bars, their variation lap, bar yielding, plastic hinge variation, are considered determine seismic columns. For first time, smooth slip together delayed yielding or without identified that may be recorded through “ductile” P-d response. Such pseudo-ductile response revisited suitably revised redesign adequate FRP jacketing.

Seismic Behavior of Steel Reinforced Concrete Beam-Columns and Frames
The ability to perform accurate nonlinear simulations is a key component in the assessment of the behavior of seismic force resisting systems. A three-dimensional distributed plasticity formulation for composite beam-columns suitable for nonlinear static and dynamic analyses of composite seismic force resisting systems has been developed. New uniaxial constitutive relations are developed for th...
متن کاملSeismic Response of Reinforced Concrete Columns
There are a large number of reinforced concrete buildings in seismically active areas of the world that are not built in accordance with modern seismic design provisions such as those published by American Concrete Institution ([ACI] Committee 318, 2008). In the United States and other parts of the developed world, these buildings were constructed between 1930s to mid 1970s according to the bui...
متن کاملFragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Lap-Spliced Columns
Placing column lap-splice in the locations of possible nonlinear deformation may adversely affect the structures response to strong ground motions. Localization of damage in splice zone may change the structural response and prevent the load redistribution and development of a uniform pattern of nonlinear excursions among the various members. Validated by existing laboratory experiments, this s...
متن کاملSeismic Performance of Steel Plate-Reinforced Concrete Composite Shear Wall
In tall buildings the reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall is one of the predominant structural components used to resist lateral loads induced by earthquakes around the world. Previous research demonstrated that shear walls displayed a sudden loss in lateral capacity due to the wall corner and web crushing in the plastic zone. In addition, it was found that large shear distortions in shear wall...
